Avery Sunshine

Avery Sunshine is a mercurial artist and songwriter who mixes the soul of gospel and jazz with R&B to create a unique mix. The singer has worked everywhere from Broadway up to The Democratic National Convention to the European club and festival scenes. Sunshine has the name Denise White. Although she is a resident of Atlanta but she is from Chester Pennsylvania where she began her musical vocation by singing as well as playing the piano at churches. In Atlanta, she attended Spellman College where her musical instruction began with the local R&B Scene. She has also contributed her voice to the music of The Fighting Temptations. In 2005 she was hired as the lead keyboardist for Tyler Perry's stage show Meet the Browns. Jennifer Holliday was the Grammy and Tony Award winner who approached her in 2007 about serving as the Choral Director for Dreamgirls which was a stage production that was part of Atlanta's National Black Arts Festival. Sunshine came to national attention in the course of four consecutive performances at the 2008 Democratic National Convention and was eventually invited to sing for the inauguration of President Obama in 2009.
